Key Concepts Covered

What Is a Project?

A temporary and goal-oriented effort that creates a unique product, service, or result. Unlike daily operations, a project has a start, an end, and clear objectives.

The Triple Constraint

Every project must balance:

  • Scope – what’s included/excluded

  • Time – schedule and deadlines

  • Cost – available budget

Changing one impacts the others that’s the core challenge of project management.

Project Lifecycle

  1. Initiation – define why the project exists

  2. Planning – determine how, when, and by whom work will be done

  3. Execution – coordinate people, materials, and tools

  4. Monitoring & Control – track progress and manage change

  5. Closing – complete documentation, sign off deliverables, and capture lessons learned

Tools & Exercises

Participants will practice using:

  • Mini Project Charter

  • Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

  • Risk Register

  • Communication Matrix

  • Status Report

  • Lessons Learned Sheet

  • Eisenhower Matrix for prioritization

Hands-on activities and team exercises help reinforce learning and develop project confidence.

Takeaways

By the end of the session, participants walk away with:

  • A toolkit of templates ready to use

  • A clear understanding of how to lead projects successfully

  • Practical skills to prevent rework and improve results
